How to Create Realistic Hair Goals

New beginnings always seem to start fresh until the middle of the year comes and what felt so new, doesn’t anymore. This typically takes place when your resolutions and goals seem to run flat and get lost in the glooms of reality. We all experienced this at some period and its completely okay, its fixable. Our natural hair goals seem to get slumped for a few reasons:

  1. We don’t plan accordingly
  2. We think we can only set goals in the beginning of the year

Lastly, but probably the most important….

  1. We set unrealistic goals!

Setting unrealistic goals is definitely setting yourself up for failure simply because you can’t implement or accomplish unrealistic goals. If it’s that simple, then why do we do it? Well its easy, we set goals and regimens strictly based on others when our hair, schedules, and lifestyles are not the same. Here are a few tips to get you on the right curl this year.

  1. Diagnose Your Hair

Whether you need to revitalize your hair from damage or want to focus on an aspect or process such as your ends or deep conditioning more often, you need to make sure what you’re planning to do will match the state of your hair. It’s useless to say you want to use protein treatments more often if your hair doesn’t need it. Therefore, check out your hair and diagnose if its drying out too quickly, shedding excessively, single strand knots, dry & itchy scalp, heat damage, not retaining length, or whatever your case may be and seek realistic solutions.

  1. Research A Solution

Search credible and multiple sources to solve or implement your focus. Search all social media sites, blogs, & books so you can have a plethora of options that will fit your lifestyle. Every crown is different so having options helps with singling out what methods works best for you. For example, if you are looking to retain more length, one method maybe more affordable for you than another. Therefore keep an open mind when doing your research.

Now you know what your focus is and what you need to do, we need to figure how are we going to do it. When planning, you want to find the best schedule including what you are willing to put in work for. Take your solution and mold it to work for you. If you want to deep condition more and only wash twice a week, you can plan to deep condition every wash day for a start. Another example is to retain your length (maintain your ends), you would need to pay special attention to your ends by moisturizing and sealing. You have the choice from caring for your ends daily or 2-3 days out of the week, the choice is solely dependent on your schedule. I recommend evaluating your daily and weekly schedule and allocate more time to when you’re already maintaining your hair.

  1. Document Your Progression

You can document via photos or journal weekly, monthly, or every 3 months or so depending on what your goal is. For example, growth is something you want to journal monthly, and the health of your ends’ is something you can document weekly. You want to document for two reasons:

  1. Evaluate if what you’re doing is working or not. You don’t want to waste your time at all.
  2. Make adjustments if necessary. You can see if adjustments are necessary to make your plan more effectively.

Regardless of what your hair goals may be, consistency and maintaining healthy hair is essential to reaching said goals. Shedavi vitamins and elixir can be added to any regimen to spring your hair to its healthiest state, maximum growth, and best appearance. Share below how you will add Shedavi to your healthy hair regimen to reach your hair goals for this year?
