Spring Clean Your Beauty Cabinet

Spring is slowly making an appearance. Birds are beginning to chirp. Plants are trying to push their way out of the ground. The moisture is returning to our skin. With spring comes the opportunity to start anew -- in every area of our lives. Finances. Relationships. Beauty. We can’t help you overhaul your whole life, but we can help you spring clean your beauty cabinet. That may be just the boost you need to spring clean in other ways.

Spring cleaning of any kind starts by taking inventory of what you have. Take out all of your beauty-related products and lay them out where you can see them. Your dining room table will do the trick.

Next, start getting curious. When was the last time you used each of these products? If you haven’t used them recently, why did you stop? Maybe you hated the smell of the product. Maybe the product just wasn’t a good fit. Maybe you found something better.

Make piles to keep, to give away, and to throw away. Keep products that you’ve used within the last six months and that you plan to continue using. Give away recently purchased items that still plenty of product left in them,  and throw anything that you haven’t used in more than six months as well as any beauty product that shouldn’t be shared. Shelf life of products vary, but six months is a good rule of thumb to start with.

Now focus on your keep pile. Do you have several of the same kind of product? Ask yourself if you really need to keep all of them. Could you replace any of the products with a multi-use product? The goal is to narrow down your collection to a select set of products that you’ll use regularly. Have you tried our Crowned Collection cleansing & conditioning products along with the vitamin and elixir? With regular use, they promote growth, thickness, strength and length retention. They make great staple for your beauty cabinet.

Hopefully you’ve streamlined your product set to only products you love. Now, you’ll want to reorganize. Think about your day-to-day routine, and place the products where they’ll be most convenient for you. Don’t hide your favorite moisturizing spray behind the nail polish remover you use once every other week. It will only add unnecessary frustration to your day. Spend more time than you think is necessary on organizing your cabinet. That time investment will brighten your day for months to come by turning using your beauty products a feel good experience.
