3 Steps To Create An Easy Healthy Hair Regimen

Posted on

No matter what stage you are at with your hair, after tons of research on YouTube, blogs, and forums you will discover you need a routine. Whether if your hair goal is length retention, healthier strands, etc, your regimen will be your routine that you will repeat to accomplish your look. Here are my tips I found helpful for my journey!

1. Identify The State of Your Hair

Its important to understand or discover what state your hair is in. Is it color damaged? Heat damaged? Dry? Limp from over moisture? Once you've identified its current state, you are able to purchase products accordingly as well know what ingredients or processes you will need to replenish your tresses.

2. Find Your Products

Luckily for you guys, you can order everything you need to maintain your hair online where reviews are right there in front of you and "how to" information is at your finger tips! Personally, I started with all natural (organic products- you will definitely have to learn to read labels on deciphering what is truly organic). You will need a shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, oil, leave in conditioner, and styler. Its important that to begin with, all of your products should have moisturizing characteristics. Moisture is the magical key to unlocking the gate to a fun and successful natural hair journey. Therefore, almost every product you use needs to have water as close to the top of the ingredient list as possible.  Also, your oil will be important in reinforcing health in your tresses and sealing moisture, therefore you will want to choose an oil or oil mix that best fits your hair needs and type. Moisture is not an essential factor in choosing an oil. Try Shedavi Hair Elixir. it works well for my hair. Once you have your hair arsenal, you can slowly eliminate shampooing as much and switching out products to achieve different styles.

3. Create A Realistic Schedule

We know what our hair needs, we bought the products, now its time to put it into actions. Natural hair can be time consuming you don't schedule properly. When you're just learning how to love your kinks, I would put aside at least a day to get use to the process. Honestly, I don't mind the time because its my "me" time and I need it! Loving my hair is extremely important to me. You will most likely have a sense of pride in your curls, which makes wash days worth it! I say realistic because I can tell you what my regimen schedule is, but it may not comply with your life schedule so it will be setting you up for a failure. What I will do is recommend what I've discovered to work and researched as well.

SHAMPOO: For your first 3 to 4 weeks, I would shampoo once a week. Afterwards, I would recommend shampooing only when you feel like your hair is heavy or dirt with products.

CONDITION:  This definitely something you must once a week, or every time you shampoo your hair. The directions will tell you to keep your conditioner in for 5-10 minutes.

DEEP CONDITION: (DC) Conditioning is essential in developing your curl (whether its a spiral curl or zig zag kink- conditioning your hair restore your hair natural state after being striped or weighed down).  You can apply to damp or wet hair. This the most important step because it helps your natural hair remain healthy.  You will definitely need to do this once a week.

LEAVE IN: This is your best friend ladies! This is something you will need to apply after you condition or DC so once a week is ideal.

SEAL:  Apply oil after you apply leave in to seal in all the moisture. This is once a week. I use Shedavi Hair Elixir for this.
SUPPLEMENT: Add in supplements to help your hair get the nutrients it may miss in other areas.
You did it! Now after implementing your regimen, you want to track your hair's progress. Adjust as necessary. Play around with different products. Your regimen gives you the opportunity to discover what ingredients your hair loves and dislike. You will have an easier time to predicting what your hair will have success with or not. This will save you tons of money in the long run.

I just purchased my starter bundle on 4/8/17 and I’m looking forward to great results. I’ve been natural since 2010 and I have a lot of hair but the shrinkage is “REAL”. I hope to achieve not only healthy hair but lengthy hair, when she’s not straight. Progress updates to come.
