Hair Growth in a Week? Inversion Method Basics

Have you been introduced to the inversion method for natural hair yet?  If you’re anything like most naturals. Discovering new tricks to make our kinks grow faster is always at the top of the list. I’m sure you’ve heard of doing the protective style and using the castor oil to promote long hair, but not quite as many women know about the inversion method for natural hair.  Take a seat, and get ready for a beauty hack that has been around for centuries… we just didn’t see it.

So, What is the Inversion Method?

So, by now you’re probably at the edge of your seat trying to figure out what is this so-called inversion method for natural hair?  Simply put, it’s the natural woman that wants long hair’s dream come true.  The struggles associated with trying to grow your hair out can get to be too real.  At times it’s like no matter how hard we try, getting just a little bit of growth can take several months at a time.  Fear not natural hair divas! The inversion method is here to make the long wait for longer tresses that much shorter.  As a matter of fact, there have been reports that an entire inch of growth can be accomplished in just a week!!

To sum it up in a nut shell, the inversion method for natural hair requires you to inverting or put the ends of your hair into a 90-degree angle or completely upside while simultaneously massaging your scalp either with or without oil.

What benefits and risks are associated with the inversion method?

The biggest benefit to using the inversion method for natural hair is that the blood gets rushed to your scalp, causing your hair follicles to be stimulated.  The blood rushing to your roots because of gravity coupled with the massage motion of your fingertips provides an optimal “climate” for your hair to drastically grow.

Now, as good as the inversion method for natural hair sounds, you need to exercise caution when using the method. Because you are literally going to be in fairly uncomfortable position for up to 4 minutes at a time, you may have a few side effects.

You may feel dizzy, nauseous, or lightheaded while you are in the inverted position.  Please be sure to listen to your body and do not try to be tough. Abort mission immediately by slowly lifting up your head, and try again the next day. Your safety and health should always be your top priority, and long hair is not worth you getting sick over.

Steps on Using the Inversion Method for Natural hair

The full inversion method is done over the span of 7 days.  During those 7 days, you will have to hold your head upside down for up to four minutes each day.  Below, we’ve outlined the preferred inversion method steps that you can use to help stimulate hair growth.

Start by warming up one of the natural oils you have on hand.  Because the Elixir is so light weight, it is perfect for doing the inversion method for natural hair. Now, please do not put your oil directly into the microwave because 1) It will probably get way too hot and 2) the microwave has a bad habit of depleting nutrients. We want these good nutrients in our scalp, so direct microwave contact is a big no-no. We recommend placing your oil into an applicator battle. Warm up a bowl of water, then put the applicator bottle into it for few seconds. Test a little bit onto your fingertips to make sure you didn’t overheat it. Nobody wants a burnt scalp!  After it gets a tolerable temperature, put the oil all over your scalp. Don’t be stingy with it!

Now you are ready to enter into an inverted position.  You have a few options in regards to how you invert yourself which will be explained below with each picture. Make sure your massaging your scalp throughout the entire duration of your inversion.

Sink Method

This is probably the easiest method.  Simply stick your head towards the sink as if you are about to get it washed or rinsed out.  Use the counter to balance yourself if necessary.

Chair Method

The next method is a little more complex, and requires you to sit in a chair.  You’ll have to support yourself with this one, using your knees or legs.  The idea is simple enough: sit in a chair, then slowly move your head forward like you are about to give yourself a pedicure. If you can’t get all the way down into a full 90-degree angle, then it’s okay to do 45 degrees with your neck straight down.

Standing Bent Over Method

The third method has you standing straight up and then coming down until you’re about 45-degrees above the ground.  If you can comfortably go lower, then that’s fine also. You’ll need decent balance in order to pull this one off.

Backbend Method

The final method could end up secretly being a good workout for your core as well. Take a chair or a giant medicine ball, and balance your butt onto the center, making sure to leave both your legs and your arms free.   Do a backbend, using the chair for support.

As you get used to holding it for four minutes, you can slowly start making your way into the more complex positions that the inversion method calls for. Again, continue doing this method for seven days in a row.  As you can imagine, your hair could get pretty oily during this process. If it’s gets to be unbearable after day 3 or 4, then cowash your hair with conditioner and refrain from using shampoo. Shampoo has a tendency to dry hair out, which is the complete opposite of what we’re trying to accomplish here.  After your week is up, then you can wash your hair and proceed to style as usual.

Do not do this for longer than a week! If your body gets used to it, then it will start to not work.  They say too much of a good thing is bad for you, and it couldn’t be truer when using the inversion method. Therefore, limit performing the inversion method for natural hair to once every 6 weeks.

Also, do not do the inversion method for natural hair when you are on your menstrual cycle or pregnant. Because your body is already in a flux from hormones, it’s not wise to add fuel to the fire and have your blood rushing to your head abnormally.  Consult with your physician to make sure it’s okay before attempting on your own.

Remember this method is more so for length than it is for thickness. If you’re looking for a way to get you hair thicker, healthier, and more luxurious, keep using Shedavi products and stay tuned for more articles!
