Prepping Your Feet for Sandal Season
Temperatures are rising, which means sandal season is approaching. If you live in a climate with a cold winter, your feet are probably really excited to see the sun. And chances are, they might need a little extra TLC before you slip on your favorite pair of sandals. Even if your hometown is warm year round, it never hurts to give your feet some dedicated attention. Use these quick tips to prep your feet for sandal season.
Soak it all in
A warm soak is good for your feet and your spirits. Sprinkle in some epsom salt to soften your feet. If you want to increase the feeling of luxury, just add a few drops of essential oil. Lavender and bergamot are go-to options for setting a relaxing mood. You can even go the extra mile by doing a full-on bubble bath.
Exfoliate
Once you’ve completed your soak--or during your shower if you opt to skip the soak--it’s time to exfoliate. Focus on your heels and the pads of your feet. That’s where the roughness tends to build up. The more often you exfoliate, the easier it is to keep your feet looking great for sandal season. Build exfoliation into your routine. Your feet will be smooth and soft, and you’ll feel confident in your sandals.
Moisturize
Your feet get more exposure than many parts of your body, especially in the summer. Consider investing in a thicker cream for your feet. Be sure to moisturize after exfoliating. If you’re still experiencing dryness, you might want to also use your cream before bed. No one likes scaly feet, so make moisturizing work for you.
Make it pop with color
Your feet should be looking pretty good by this point. Show off all the care you’ve taken with a pop of color. You can be a little crazier with toenail polish colors, so don’t shy away from the bright or the bold or the glittery. Go timeless with a french pedicure or experimental with an artful block print.
