Essence Fest 2018: A Recap
It’s hard to believe that less than a week ago, we were in New Orleans for Essence Fest. As much as we enjoyed the music and the energy of the city, nothing could compare to being surrounded by so many Shedavi customers!
The Shedavi Street Team, including our interview host Chelse of Chatting with Chelse, had the chance to interview many of the attendees around the topic, “What does healthy hair mean to me?” It was such a gift to reconnect to the why behind our work. We’re helping women achieve their own definition of healthy hair through our products!

After hearing from all of you, we changed out of our white t-shirts and into white dresses for the Essence Women En Blanc Honors Brunch powered by Lexus, which we sponsored. The event honored women who have done incredible work in their communities, including Regina Moore of Walmart, Tarana Burke and Chelsea Fuller of the Me Too Movement, Swin Cash Canal of WNBA, LA Senator of 5th District Karen Carter Peterson, Sonia Jackson Myles of Sister Accord LLC, Mikki Taylor of ESSENCE magazine and Burunda Prince-Jones of The Farm. All of the honorees received a Shedavi gift box as a token of appreciation for all the good they’re doing.
We wrapped up the weekend at the Influencer Lounge: Essence Fest Edition, hosted by Gabrielle Deculus of Business Rules for Women. The Influencer Lounge is a place for brands and influencers had the opportunity to learn from each other and to lay the groundwork for partnerships. Shedavi’s founder, Elizabeth Davis, took the stage to talk about motivation, inspiration, and starting a business.
Essence Fest is always a highlight of our year. There’s nothing quite like it. Did you go to Essence Fest? Share your favorite moments, outfits, and hairstyles in the comments below.
